Creating Beloved Community by Practicing the Way of Love

Self-Reflection – Beloved Community

Self-reflection offers space for you to listen to your own story and your own context and how it fits into being a part of creating the Beloved Community. Take time to pray, journal, and learn for your spiritual and emotional growth. Look at your daily life through the lens of Beloved Community.

Gifts Discernment
ECMN has developed a great set of discernment tools to help you become clearer about your gifts so that you can best engage God’s Mission. Once you get to the site, click on Free Courses and look for Discern Your Gifts (It will ask you for an enrollment key, which is in the course description, or, just copy and paste this: Discern@2018). If you don’t already have a log-in, you can easily create one. If you are doing this with several people in your faith community, only one person would need to log-in to have access to videos to share and resources to print out. There are five sessions in all – and each session can be shaped around a model of eating, praying, engaging in Scripture, learning about your gifts, and sending you on your way with a full and grateful heart. The final session is called “So, what now?” and you will discern and discover what to do with what you have learned – find more resources for that part of the journey here.

Intercultural Developmental Inventory (IDI)
The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities.

Building Bridges Across Culture and Race
This course through the Episcopal Church in Minnesota’s School for Formation trains you to build your ability to recognize and reconstruct your own cultural and racial bias. Through the Intercultural Development Inventory assessment, learning plan and one-on-one coaching, you’ll gain increased awareness, understanding, and skills in navigating race and culture.

City House – Spiritual Listening Training

The work of City House inspires hope, trust, and healing through spiritual listening with people on the margins—including those experiencing poverty, addiction, and imprisonment.City House is a nonprofit organization with over 30 active volunteer spiritual directors.  We provide our services by partnering with social service agencies; we work with the agency’s clients, providing a spiritual complement to the agency’s own mission. We offer individual one-on-one sessions, group direction, and organized retreats.

Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator

The goal of knowing about personality type is to understand and appreciate differences between people. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) personality inventory helps us understand that much seemingly random variation in behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.
